Nina grew up on a ranch and attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse until high school. She loved animals and treasured her many pets through the years. In her early married years, she volunteered in mental health programs and was active in her church circle.
Her husband of 63 years, James Merton Hamilton, preceded her in death.
Nina is remembered for her humor, her style, her passion for bridge, her love of the visual and decorative arts, her generosity toward her family, and her loving caretaking of her husband for the last ten years of his life.
She is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Hamilton Taylor and LaQuieta Hamilton O'Dell; their husbands, William S. Taylor III and Aulton Barry O'Dell; two grandchildren, Michael Shawn O'Dell and Heather Parrish O'Dell Naples; their spouses, Tina Sabala O'Dell and Dr. Jason Naples; and her two great-grandchildren, Nina and Kyle Naples.
Nina Hamilton's ashes will be interred at Rose Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Houston SPCA, 900 Partway Drive, Houston, Texas 77024 or the Methodist Hospital Foundation and designate Parkinson's Research at P.O. Box 4384, Houston, Texas 77210-4384.
