Ex-Sailor Kills Self With Shot Gun
This community was shocked Monday afternoon when it was reported that the dead body of Geo. E. Alexander, an ex-sailor, had been found near Bird Creek with the top of his head shot entirely away.
Charles Anglin, bookkeeper for the Sinclair Oil Co., came to town and stated that he had found the body of Alexander lying near a stump of an old tree, a shot gun lying near the body. The body was lying in the base of a hollow stump and it is thought that Alexander had sat down on the stump, placed the muzzle of the gun to his forehead and pulled the trigger. Judging from the manner in which the head was mangled, it is thought that this is the manner in which the suicide occurred.
H. E. Alexander is a brother of George, George has been here for some time and he has been unable to find much work we are told, due to the fact that he received injuries while in the service. It is presumed that he grew weary of life and decided to end it all.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Hillside Cemetery. Father Wouters conducting the ceremonies.
