"Robert Houston COMER, November 17, 1916- August 10, 2015 Phenix City, AL--Robert Houston COMER, 98, of Phenix City, AL passed away, Monday, August 10, 2015 in Columbus, GA.

A private graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Taylor BROWN officiating.

Houston was born November 17, 1916 in Columbus, GA to the late Frank Lee COMER and Sallie GREGORY COMER.

He was a Navy Seabee during WWII and was the owner/operator of Houston Comer Construction Company.

Mr. COMER was very active in the community serving on the Phenix City Water Board in the 50's, president of the Boys and Girls Club in the early 60's and participated for many years. He was secretary of the Phenix City Builders and Contractors Association and was a member of Central Baptist Church. He also became active with the Senior Centers in Columbus and Phenix City and was involved with the Senior Center Dance Program.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Vivian COMER; son, Robert Houston "Bob" COMER, Jr.; grandson, Robert Jeffrey "Jeff" STOREY and Jay STOREY; brothers, Cecil COMER and Marion COMER and sisters Evelyn "Pat" AKIN and Elizabeth HART.
