Died from a massive heart attack, while at Hamot Hospital, Erie, Pa. He was cremated & buried at the foot of wife, Beatrice's grave. A military stone was later placed at the gravesite.
He served during WW I, enlisting 7-19-1940 in the Army & served in Italy & Sicily. He was injured in Apr, 1943 when shot down flying into Italy.
Carl William Vosburg, Sr, 63, Ashtabula, died in Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa, Thursday morning. He had entered the hospital Sunday for medical care. A resident of Ashtabula most of his life, he was born in Scranton, Pa, January 13, 1917, the son John & Mary Halladay Vosburg, He was retired from the CEI, where he had been employed as a maintenance man. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the US Army, & was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by four sons, James M, Biloxi, Miss, Carl W Jr, Ashtabula, Donald E, serving with the Armed Forces in Germany, & Walter N, Geneva-on-the-Lake; a daughter, Mrs Charles (Vickie) Heath, Iowa; five brothers, John & Curtis, New Jersey, Delbert & Theodore, Pa, & Elmer, Texas; four sisters, Mrs Dorothy Moyer, New Jersey, Mrs Lucy Daniels & Mrs Jane Cicon, Pa, & Mrs Caroline Hamilton, S Car; & seven grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Zaback Funeral Home from 2 to 4 pm, Sunday.

Carl William Vosburg Sr, 63, Ashtabula, Ohio, died Thursday in a VA Hospital in Erie, Pa. Born January 13, 1917. In Scranton, Pa, he was a son of the late John H Vosburg & Mary (Halladay) Vosburg. Mr Vosburg was an employee of the Electric & Illuminating Company. Ashtabula, where he worked as a machinist. He was an Army Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs Beatrice (Houdersheldt) Vosburg, formerly of Wiley Ford, W Va. Surviving are four sons, James M Vosburg, Biloxi, Miss, William C & Walter N, both of Ashtabula, & Donald R, Germany; daughter, Mrs Vickie Heath, Iowa City, Iowa; five brothers, John, Theodore, Curtis, Elmer, & Delbert, all of Scranton, Pa; five sisters, Mrs Lucy Daniels, Mrs Jane Cicon, & Mrs Kay Richards, all of Scranton, Pa, Mrs Caroline Hamilton, South Carolina, & Mrs Dorothy Moyer, New Jersey; & seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted in the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Wednesday at 11 am, with the Rev Arthur Vespa officiating & interment will be in Abe Cemetery, Mineral Co, W Va.
