Joseph Edward Rhodes, son of John Rhodes, Mothers name UNK, married Mary Sarah "Polly" Beck Rhodes on August 9, 1804, Johnson County.

They were parents of nine children:

1. Curtis Rhodes, b. 1-5-1808, d. 1-26-1863, Sampson County, N. C. he married Queeney Goodson. They are both buried at Old Swift Creek Cemetery, Darlington County, South Carolina. (Curtis brother (Joseph Edward Rhodes) also married a Lady by the name of Queenie Goodson, (Aunt & Niece).
2. Elizabeth "Betsy" Rhodes, b. 8-24-1809, d. 9-12-1886, married Matchett Fields on July 23, 1827.
3. Calvin Rhodes, b. 9-20-1811, d. 11-12-1894, married Sarah Ann Pollard in 1828, They are both buried at Swift Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Darlington County, South Carolina.
4. Sarah Ann Rhodes, b. 2-2-1813, d. Abt. 1861, married Elisha King
5. Nancy Rhodes, b. 1-24-1816, d. 7-31-1892, married Noel Beasley, in 1831.
6. Caleb Beck Rhodes, b. 10-13-1817, d. ?, married Elizabeth Hicks
7. Everett Rhodes, b. 6-14-1822, d. ?, married Sophronia, maiden name Unknown.
8. Joseph Edward Rhodes, b. 10-2-1826, married Queenie Goodson, on November 24, 1842.
(** RELATED to his oldest brother Curtis Rhodes wife, Queeney Goodson** Aunt and Niece)
Joseph Edward Rhodes was born October 2, 1826 and died May 16, 1864 at Drury's Bluff near Petersburg, Virginia.... when a Minnie ball pierced his breast instantly terminating his mortal career... Information given to me by his g-g-grandson, James "Jimmy" Rhodes. Do not know where he was buried, died in Virginia, CIVIL WAR.
9. Mary "Polly" Rhodes, born 4-5-1827, no other information.
