CAROLYN LANDAU
We regret to inform you of the passing of Carolyn Landau, for 28 years a respected educator at Marist College, passed away on May 22nd at Ten Broeck Commons nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Landau taught political science at Marist College. She also helped to initiate the political science major at Marist, and founded and was the first director of Marist's paralegal program. She was active in New Paltz village affairs for many years. She served on the village planning board between 1993 and 1996, and was an active member of the Save the Village Committee.
Mrs. Landau was the widow of Dr. Victor Landau, a professor of music at SUNY New Paltz for 36 years, a pianist and classical music composer. She is survived by her sons Thomas, of Denver, Colorado and John, of New Paltz, and by her brothers Bernard of Lawrence, NY, and Walter of Honolulu, Hawaii.
A brief memorial service will be held in her honor, on the 30th day after her passing. The service will take place on June 21st. We will meet at 7 p.m. at the New Paltz Rural Cemetery on Plains Road, Town of New Paltz, Jewish section, 100 yards to the left of the main entrance, followed by light refreshments at 8 p.m. at our home at 5 Lincoln Place in the Village of New Paltz.
We are sorry for the lack of notice of the funeral due to her prompt burial, which took place in accordance with Jewish tradition.
