Mildred Pliska Parks, 90, formerly of Dallas, Texas, died on August 7, 2017 in Vernon, CT. She was a native of Oil City, PA where she graduated from Oil City High School and received a B.S. degree from Penn State University and an M.S. degree from Texas Woman’s University. Mildred taught home economics in the Richardson Independent School District in Richardson, Texas until her retirement in 1988. She resided in Texas from 1959 to 2000. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Dallas, TX and belonged to the Texas State Teachers Association and the Richardson Texas Retired Teachers Association. She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Anna Pliska, and her brother, Dr. Stanley Pliska. Mildred is survived by her sister, Ann Pliska Pudelkiewicz, niece, Ann Phillips, and nephew, John Pudelkiewicz, and their respective families. Her family would like to thank the staff at Fox Hill Center who cared for her, especially her nurse, Marguerite, and Beth in the Recreation Department where she loved to spend all her free time participating in all sorts of exciting activities. Even though she could not speak due to a stroke, she never lost her ability to communicate! There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to St. Philip the Apostle Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Rd., Ashford, CT 06278. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Church in Ashford, CT, burial to follow at St. Philip Cemetery, Ashford.
