DEARL T. MILLS, of Springfield Township, died 4th day, June, 2013 in Springfield, Ohio. He was born May 2, 1953 in Springfield, OH, the son of Clinton L. and Georgia M. (Whitaker) Mills.

Dearl graduated from Springfield North High School, Clark State Community College and Wittenberg University. Dearl retired early in March 2010 on long term disability due to a courageous battle with a rare cancer. He was employed by Lockheed Martin Corporation working as a defense contractor for the DLA Agency DAASC at Wright-Patterson AFB. He was earlier employed at Century Technologies, Ponderosa Inc., and Robbins & Myers Inc. Dearl was a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, Saint Andrews No. 619 F&AM and Springfield Chapter No. 237 R.A.M. Dearl was an avid genealogy researcher for over 40 years and had published several articles in County History Books and Genealogical Society publications. Dearl also loved the arts of oil and water color painting and had studied under Floyd Hook Jr. for several years.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his partner of 21 years, Gary L. Wright; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Glenda M. and Ron Robertson of Lakewood Ranch, FL., Brenda K. Grabill and Phyllis A. Schmid both of Springfield; niece, April Meyer; nephews, Shawn Robertson, Shane Meyer, Richard Grabill III, Derek Grabill and several great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins. His father, many aunts and uncles, paternal grandparents, Christopher C. and Amanda CalDonna (Garrett) Mills, maternal grandparents, Henley and Mellis G. (Rice) Whitaker all preceded him in death. Dearl will be deeply and sadly missed by Chuckie, a 37 year old Goffin Cockatoo that requires more attention and love than most pets.

A special thank you goes out to the Hospice of Dayton staff and Suncoast Hospice of Saint Petersburg, Florida.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 3-6 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Julie Carmean officiating.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
