Mr. Rufus Wesson, a well-known citizen and former business man, died very suddenly yesterday afternoon at his residence, corner of Pleasant ahd Mason streets, aged 64 years.
He had been a boot manufacturer for some 30 years in this city, but retired a few years ago on account of ill health, having been affected with a disease of the heart, which it is supposed caused his death. He had been on the street during the day in what was supposed his usual health.
He was son of the late Rufus Wesson, and brother of Frank Wesson of this city, and of Smith Wesson of Springfield, manufacturers of fire arms.
He leaves a wife and daughter and three sons, one of whom is James Edwin Wesson, boot manufacturer, on Mulberry street, for whom his father had worked a portion of the time since he had retired from the business.
