James P. Elkins Sr., 79, of North Summit Avenue, Gaithersburg, husband of Helen
F. Elkins, died Sunday at the Montgomery General Hospital, Olney.

He was born in Virginia, a son of the late Robert and Catherine Pickrell
[Turner] Elkins. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church,
Gaithersburg.

Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, Mrs. Pauline Carter, Darnestown,
Mrs. Margaret Boswell, Rockville, Miss Elizabeth Elkins, Gaithersburg, and Mrs.
Madeline Miller, Damascus; two sons, Milton O. Elkins, Magna, Utah, and James P.
Elkins Jr., Buckeystown; a sister, Miss Ada C. Elkins, Germantown; nine
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. he had worked as a butcher in Gaithersburg
He was predeceased by sisters Pauline Carter and Margaret Boswell, and brother Milton Elkins. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Skiles Funeral Home, 136 E Baltimore St., Taneytown, with the Rev. Robert E. Riley, pastor of Taneytown Baptist.Church, officiating.
Inurnment will be in Darnestown Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Darnestown.
