Joseph Raymond Blackstone
Joseph Raymond Blackstone died July 16, 1996 at the North Platte hospital.
He was born at Bayard to Charles N. and L. Mabel (Bowers) Blackstone, January 12, 1911.
He married Lela Meredith July 25, 1931. He lived most of his life in the Bayard, Hemingford, Red Cloud, and Ogallala areas.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Joan and Mel Fryman of Littleton, Colorado, Betty and Dale Forstrom of Ogallala, and Vyonne Blackstone of Ogden, Utah; son and daughter-in-law Chuck and Kay Blackstone of Kansas City, Missouri; brother Earl Blackstone of Bayard, Homer and Ora Blackstone Torrington, Wyoming and Nolan Blackstone of Bayard; sisters Millie Butler of Englewood, Colorado and Mary and Marlow Newman of Gregory, South Dakota; 10 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother LaVerne and sister Charlotte.
Graveside services will be held at the Bayard Cemetery, Saturday, August 10 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Todd Tabor officiating.
A funeral was held July 18 in Ogallala at the Gubser Funeral Chapel.
