Walter Lee Dyer (Pappy) - age 91 of Knoxville passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, September 8, 2017.

Not only was he welcomed home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ but also by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Dyer; and sons, Bruce and Allan Dyer.

Pappy began working on the UT campus in 1961. He retired as Supervisor of Special Events at Stokely Athletic Center on January 13, 1989. Pappy will be greatly missed by son, Walter Jr.; daughters, Katie and Janie; grandchildren, Kristi, Jeffrey, Kelley, Kyle, Andy, Matt, Joey, Kate, Jennifer, Joshua, and Dyer Scott; 16 great grandchildren including the "sunshine of his day", Miranda (Bright Eyes); 4 great great grandchildren; brother, Francis Dyer, Sr; and lifelong friend, Robert Hopkins.

Family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Bridges Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM. Family and friends will meet 12:15 PM Wednesday at Bridges Funeral Home and proceed to New Gray Cemetery for a 1:00 PM interment.

Pallbearers: grandsons and great grandsons (Kyle, Matt, Joey, Dyer, Steven, and Logan). Honorary pallbearers: Josh, Christopher, Ronald, Adrien, Dakota, and Dan. Arrangements by Bridges Funeral Home,
