"Mrs. Lurene R. Baxter, 84, of Mount Olive, died Saturday. A Native of Colorado and a Seventh Day Adventist, she was a retired licensed practical nurse. Graveside service will be hed at 11 a.m. Monday at Lynn Cemetery, Crestview Memorial directing. survivors include a grandson, Wayne Kurtz, Mount Olive, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ida Dumas, Brookside."
She was one of my favorite aunts and was married to my uncle Frank Pruitt when I was born and for several years afterwards. I was told that she saved my life when I had pneumonia at the age of six months. She and Uncle Frank lived next door to us at the time. Years later I remember visiting her at her apartment on Boulevard in Atlanta, Georgia and feasting on her delicious yeast biscuits.
