SPANGLER– Nancy (Sura), 82, Westmont, passed away June 10, 2013, in Johnstown. Born June 16, 1930, in Central City, daughter of George W. and Helen A. (Lesko) Sura. Preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 62 years, Forrest D. Spangler; youngest son, Douglas, on Sept. 5, 2012; and sister, Martha (Sura) Ross. Survived by children, Forrest "Forrie" Spangler, married to Patty, and Pamela, wife of Patrick McCoy, daughter-in-law, Leah Spangler; brothers,George Sura, married to Harriet, and Charles Sura, married to Patricia; grandchildren, Ryan; Garrett Spangler (Ashley); Lauren, married to Jeremy Forosisky; Wesley Terek (Michelle); Keegan Terek; and William, Hayden and Liza Spangler; and great-granddaughters, Edye and Lilly Spangler. She was a 1948 graduate of Shade High School. Her career began at the FBI in Washington, D.C., and later the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat. Nancy and Forrest were married Sept. 17, 1951. She and her husband founded Spangler Auto in 1953. She and her husband were very active volunteers in the community, especially with JAHA and the Johnstown Flood Museum. She was a tour guide at the Johnstown Flood Museum from 1989 to 2011. She was a member of Memorial Hospital Junior auxiliary for many years and a volunteer at the Johnstown Convention and Visitors Bureau for over 20 years. She also led walking tours of historical neighborhoods of Johnstown. But more than that, Nancy was an ambassador for the museum and for the community, helping to share Johnstown's story with thousands of people. She never failed to bake a birthday cake for each employee at the dealership. Nancy inspired people with her personal notes of kindness, concern, appreciation and achievements. She made an effort to acknowledge everyone and to make them feel important. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Christ the Saviour Cathedral, where she and her husband taught a young adult Sunday school class for a number of years. Nancy was elected first president of Parents and Teachers Guild. Friends and family will meet at noon Friday, June 14, 2013, at Christ the Saviour Cathedral for a funeral Mass, the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro, celebrant. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.
