Jul. 19, 1905, Southern Aegis:
She was the daughter of Zachariah and Mary Cooper who moved into the country from South Carolina about 1817. She was one of twelve children all of whom lived to be grown and married, herself marrying Roland Hood in 1838, and lived in the country seven miles east of Ashville up to the day of her death with the exception of two years (1857 and 1858) spent in Morgan County. She was the mother of nine children, four of whom are still living, as follows: C. R. Hood of Groveshick, Rufus P. Hood of Bryan, Jefferson Davis Hood of Thorton, Texas, Mrs. Sarah (Thomas) Lister of Gadsden, Rev. Noah A. Hood of Ashville, Ala. Roland Hood, her husband, died Aug. 25, 1889.
She was a consistant Christian, a member of the Baptist church at Hopewell for about 65 years, greatly esteemed and honored for her high qualities, womanhood and neighborly kindness and tenderness. Her funeral took place last Wednesday of Hopewell, 2 p.m. Rev. J.S.E. Roberson conducted the services, and was attended by members of the family and a large number of friends from other places.
