Mrs Rachel Phillips (age 55) and her two children Ethel (age 13) and Hubert (age 11) were passengers on the "Empress of Ireland" when it struck another vessel on the St Lawrence River and sank. Their bodies were never recovered. They are remembered on Elijah Phillips' headstone in Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon Saskatchewan.
