BOILER VICTIM AN ARCOLA MAN

Arcola, Ill., Feb. 23. — Jesse Moyer of Danville, one of the two men killed Thursday when the boiler of a New York Central locomotive exploded near Enos, Ind., was a former Arcola resident and was fireman on the engine at the time of the accident. The engineer, Frank Baker, also was instantly killed. The engine was running about twenty miles an hour. The boiler was torn loose and thrown 300 feet to one side of the track, and the cab with the two men to the opposite side. Both were instantly killed and their bodies mangled almost beyond recognition.

The cause of the explosion was a defect in the repair of the boiler. The engine was just out of the repair shops of the New York Central at Elkhart, Ind., and was on its first trip.

Mr. Moyer was about thirty-six years of age. He married Miss Lena Black of Arcola twelve years ago. They left Arcola ten years ago. He had been with the New York Central two years and had been given the assignment with that engine ten days before.

At the age of four years he was taken to rear by Mr. and Mrs. Ed DeVoss of Arcola, his own parents being dead. He leaves a widow and four children, the oldest being ten.

The body was brought to Arcola, where short services were held at the graveside this afternoon at two o'clock. The funeral service was held at the home in Danville Friday afternoon.
