Born in Omaha, Ne. to Ralph & Luceta Hawkins. Newman served in the US Navy from 1951 - 1954. July 19, 1957 he was united in marriage to JoAnn Mae (Grothe) Hawkins in Omaha, and they shared 56 wonderful years together. Newman was in the printing industry for 55 years and was a co-founder of Regal Printing Company.

Newman was an avid fisherman. His most enjoyable times were spent at the cabin in Minnesota with family and friends. He was happiest out on the lake with a fishing pole in hand. In retirement, he enjoyed the opportunities he had to travel and go on cruises.

While not traveling, he enjoyed keeping busy, whether in his yard or fixing things around the house. He was an incredible handyman. He loved doing things for and with his family. Oh and did we mention he loved fishing?

He is survived by the love of his life, JoAnn; Son, Mark and Debra Hawkins; Daughter, Lori and Terry McMullen; Three wonderful grandchildren: Ronnie, Kirsten and Erin; brothers: Ralph E. and Naomi Hawkins and Glenn Hawkins.
