Ewald William Jensen, 62, longtime resident of Voorhies died in Allen Memorial Hospital in waterloo shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, March 2 of a heart or coronary ailment.
He was taken to the hospital only about an hour before his death.

Ewald was born to Nels and Sophia Jensen, on the Lamb farm now occupied by Russell lamb, on June 24, 1904. He spent most of his life in south Black Hawk county, except one year spent in Langley, Washington and six years on a farm in Grundy county near Zaneta with his parents and family.

He was married January 25, 1939 to Edna Prehn near Gladbrook. They farmed the Irv Howard farm and the Henry Schroder farm, near Buckingham. They had also farmed the Freet farm, near Toledo. They quit farming and bought the property of Ewald's bother. Mike in Voorhies over 19 years ago.

Ewald was well known and had been doing trucking and custom shelling until he was taken ill during December of last year.

He leaves his widow; a son, Everett, a student at Ft. Dodge Community college, two daughters: Mrs. Ron Koch of Reinbeck and Beulah at home; and three grandchildren; and is also survived by three sisters: Mrs. Hertha Barfels of Cedar Falls; Mrs. Anna Andorf and Mrs. Alma Wilson, both of Hudson; and four brother's: Langley, Oscar and Otto, all of Voorhies; and Mike of Dinsdale.

Ewald Jensen was preceded in death by his parents, one sister in infancy and one brother Gus in 1963.

Many relatives, neighbors and friends attended the funeral Monday afternoon, March 6, at the United Presbyterian church in Reinbeck, conducted by the Rev. Harold M. Brockus. Pallbearers, all nephews, were Larry Andor and Jerry Wilson, both of Hudson, Robert Engel and Wayne Janssen, of Traer, Langley Ray Jensen of Voorhies, and Marvin Engel of Cedar Falls. Merle Lynch sang "In the Garden" and was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Ward French. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cavanaugh and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Saltzmann of Voorhies were in charge of the floral arrangements. Ushers were Lawrence Paige, Marvin Barfels and Ralph Creswell. Interment was in the Lincoln township (Black Hawk County) cemetery. Friends and relatives gathered in the church dining room following the committal services.
