Donald was born on April 26, 1935, in Springfield, the son of James Clarence & Lena E. (Allison) Cook. He married Mary Beard on December 8, 1956, in Springfield. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2008.
He was a technician for the Illinois National Guard and a member of the National Guard Forget-Me-Nots for 29 years and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Donald was a member of the Real Life Church in Springfield and a member of the Blue Ridge Club for 3 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ray, Jim, Ron and Gary; and two sisters, Tudy and Rita.
Donald is survived by his son, Donald ; daughter, Lorraine "Lori" ; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Carol and several nieces and nephew.
