Daughter of Ardelle William Phillips and Barbara Ellen Denison

Married Max Dean Peterson, 19 July 1953, Logan, Cache, Utah

Obituary - Lucy Marie Phillips Petersen was born to Ardelle William Phillips and Barbara Ellen Denison on 25 September 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah, but grew up on a fruit orchard in Farmington, Utah. From a young age she dedicated her life to serving others, and she had many notable achievements as a young woman.

Shortly after graduating from high school, she married Max Dean Petersen of Salt Lake City, Utah in the Logan, Utah Temple on 19 July 1953. They resolved to have ten children together. Shortly after their wedding they moved to Michigan, where they lived and had their ten children. They returned to Utah to be close to family, most of who live in Utah.

Lucy dedicated her life to serving others. Other than her portraits, it is very difficult to find a photo of her not doing something for someone. Even to the very end, people would ask her how she was doing and she would quickly turn the conversation to asking others how they were doing, or talking about her children and how they were doing. She never wearied doing something for others, and her greatest sorrows were when she could not.

She especially loved music and reading, and often combined the two by teaching her children and grandchildren to read while singing.

Surviving family members include her husband, Max Petersen, their ten children: Kim Petersen, Chris Petersen, Karen Gladstone, Vicky Allen, Greg Petersen, Rena Child, Linette Hall, Eric Petersen, Lucy Petersen, and Kyleen Petersen, twenty-three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her sister Barbara Bybee.

Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lehi 2nd Ward, 481 East 300 North, Lehi UT 84043-1922, Saturday, 15 December, at 11:00 am. A public viewing will be held at the same location prior to the funeral 9:00-10:30 am.
