James G. "Jim" Barnes Jr., 70, died June 5, 2013, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born Dec. 24, 1942, in Hutchinson, to James Grant Barnes Sr. and Betty (Bowman) Barnes.

A machinist at Eaton, he was a member of the Machinists Union. On July 15, 1962, he married Shirley E. Huckabey in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: two daughters, Tammy Gough and husband Bill of Wichita, Michelle Scott and husband Steve of Wichita; son, Bill Barnes Sr. of Hutchinson; sister, Rebecca Barnes of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by: his parents; son, James G. Barnes III; and sister, Margaret Jean Barnes.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Richard Neu officiating. Cremation will follow and private inurnment will be in Eastside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Maize Congregational Church in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
