Emma Sauer, 96, of Amarillo died Tuesday, June 14, 2005.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with the Rev. Bob Miller of South Georgia Baptist Church and the Rev. Greg Waggoner of Bible Baptist Temple officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, Okla., with the Rev. Jack Sauer officiating.

Mrs. Sauer was born Feb. 8, 1909, in Tangier, Okla., to Christion and Augusta (Meister) Weidner. Emma was united in marriage with Samuel Sauer on Dec. 14, 1927, at Lipscomb. Emma lived with her husband in Weatherford all of their married life. Her husband passed away Nov. 21, 1960. They were members of Zion Congregational Church. A short time after her husband's death she moved to Amarillo to be closer to her son and his family.

Her life was centered in Christ, her Savior, whom she served faithfully. She joined Southlawn Baptist Church and later transferred her membership to South Georgia Baptist Church. She served faithfully in both churches.

Her family was her pride and joy and great concern. They were brought before the throne of grace daily. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 17:15 and her favorite songs were "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "My Jesus I Love Thee."

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Otto and Rueben Weidner of Follett, and Chris Weidner; and a sister, Elsie Kraft of Shattuck, Okla.

Survivors include a son, Milton G. Sauer and wife, Patty, of Amarillo; two brothers, Robert Weidner and wife, LaVeta, of Amarillo, and Bill Weidner of Port Royal, S.C.; five sisters, Jean Imke and husband, Keith, of Richardson, Beata Borth and Erma Redelsperger, both of Follett, Esther Oblander of Shattuck and Clara McKee of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Nihla Roberts and husband, Greg, and Melissa Smith and husband, Joel, all of Amarillo; five great-grandsons, Brett Davis and wife, Brianne, of Lubbock, Bryan Davis of Washington, D.C., and Dustin Roberts, Greyson Smith and Tanner Smith, all of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home in Amarillo and from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lockstone Funeral Home in Weatherford.

The family suggests memorials be to South Georgia Baptist Church Building Fund, 5209 S. Georgia St., Amarillo, TX 79110.
