Published in the Tuolumne Independent newspaper was this card of thanks: The brothers and sisters of the late Andrew Conlin wish to express their heartfelt thanks to the many friends who administered to the wants of their deceased brother and consoled them in their affliction. Columbia, Nov. 14, 1883.

In 1870, James and Julia Conlin lived in Columbia where James was a miner. They were both from Ireland, and they came to California and had a large family. In 1870, their household was as follows:

John Conlin, age 9

Sometime between 1876 and 1880, James and Julia Conlin passed away. The eleven brothers and sisters of their Irish born parents were living in Columbia in 1880, trying to make it on their own without their parents or other family members.

Mary Ann, age 23, the eldest, headed and cared for their home.
Thomas, age 21, was physically disabled and could not work.*
John P., age 19, was a miner.
Andrew, age 17, was a laborer.
The younger siblings went to school except for the two youngest.

Andrew Conlin soon followed his parents to the grave. He passed away at the age of 20, November 10, 1883.

Catherine passed away in 1888.

Rose passed away in 1889.

Mary Ann Conlin passed away March 11, 1890, at age 33. She is buried in St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery in Columbia.

The youngest, Charles H. Conlin, passed away September 27, 1893, at age 17.

In 1900, only six of the siblings were alive, and five of them lived together in Columbia.

Thomas Conlin, age 41, born May 1859, was head of the family. He worked as a Wells Fargo agent.

John P Conlin, age 38, born October 1861, was a miner.

Julia Conlin, age 34, was born October 1865.

Margaret Conlin, age 33, was born March 1867.

James B Conlin, age 27, born September 1872, was a miner.

In 1900, George F. Conlin, age 29, born July 1870, was living with a group of people and was a hotel proprietor. About 1905, he married Nellie Grace Robertson, and they had two children, George Thomas and Mary. He passed away November 22, 1916, at age 46. He is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Sonora.

In 1920, Nellie, her children and her father, Christopher Columbus Robertson, lived together in Columbia.

Thomas worked as an operator for the Western Union Telegraph company. His sisters, Julia and Margaret, lived with him in 1920. They did not have an outside occupation.

John P. Conlin lived alone in 1920. He was a gold miner. He passed away October 18, 1921. He is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Sonora.

Thomas Conlin passed away January 10, 1930. He is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Sonora.

Julia Conlin passed away October 2, 1939. She is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Sonora.

Margaret Conlin passed away July 1, 1944. She is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Sonora.

George and Nellie's son, George Thomas Conlin, passed away in Tuolumne County January 23, 1958. His sister, Mary, married a man with the surname of Carter. She passed away in San Joaquin County on July 14, 1997.
