Daughter of the late J. and Abera Meekins Silverthorne, she was the widow of Ray Oliver Walker (married on October 17, 1943), who died on April 27, 2008. Additionally, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wilson Odell Silverthorne, and by a sister, Velma D. Milledge. She was survived by a daughter Peggy Brucce (Robert); a son, Larry Walker (Carolyn); three grandchildren, Christopher Bruce, Nicole Bruce Cone and Thomas Walker; two great-grandchildren, Kali Whitaker and Chelsea Whitaker; speccial niece, Penny Silverthorne; and an extended family of relatives. Her funeral was held on June 6, 2013, at Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church in Blounts Creek, NC, with The Rev. Chuck Owens and Ward Sullivan officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Bruce, Christopher Bruce, Danny Asby, Thomas Walker, Floyd Gurganus and Bill Gurganus.
