Billy "Bill" Roe, 82 of Pigeon, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital.

Born June 12, 1930 in Owendale, he was the son of the late Gordon P. and Adiah L. (Herrington) Roe, and attended Owendale School. On September 1, 1950 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Kohl in Bay Port.

From 1953-1990 Bill worked for the Huron County Road Commission. Prior to working for the Road Commission he worked for John Corrion, Sr. as a machinery operator. He also worked in maintenance for 26 years for Nietzke & Faupel. Known as "Billy the Handyman," he was a helpful, friendly neighbor, and also known to be a meticulous workaholic.

Bill was a faithful member of the Community of Christ Church, Bay Port, where he served as Building Committee chairman and was a member of the church Men's Club.

Bill dearly loved his family. In addition to his wife, Dorothy A., to whom he had been married 62 years, he is survived by three children, William Charles Roe of Asheville, North Carolina, Debra Lynn (Spencer) Rathbun of Mission, Texas, and David Allen (Nancy) Roe of Caro; nine grandchildren: Jennifer Roe, Brooke Coates, Benjamin Kohl Roe, Chelsea Ann Roe, Tracy Lee (David) Schulz, Brandy June (Bill) Hoch, Dayna Marie Roe, Alexis Nicole Roe, and Erika Michelle Roe; step grandchildren, Benjamin Michael (Jamie) McFarland, Lucas Dean McFarland, Hannah Jean McFarland, and Melanie (Scott) Rittenhouse; great-grandchildren, Hadley Roe Hoch, Baley Leigh McFarland, and Brian, Cody, and Tony Rittenhouse; and great great-grandchildren, Evan, Roman, and Isabelle Rittenhouse. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Roe of Saginaw and Earl (Janine) Roe of Kalkaska; sister, Dorothy (Paul) Radabaugh of Owendale; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Gordon and Lillian Roe, Eva and JD Andress, Clayton "Rip" Roe, Donald Roe, and Latheria Roe; sister-in-law, Jean Roe; and step grandson, David Rathbun.

The Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Community of Christ Church, Bay Port, with Elder Kathy Swartzendruber officiating. Burial will follow at New Bay Port Cemetery.
