Ruby H. Slemp, age 92, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at her residence with her family and friends by her side. She was born January 30, 1921 in Johnson County, Tennessee, to the late Roscoe and Alice Potter Perkins.

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, McDonald Slemp; sisters: Blanche Stout, Cleo Colson and Doris Hughes; brothers: Hartley Potter, Earl Perkins and Shelton Perkins; and a son-in-law, Jim Rupard.

She was employed at Burlington Industries for many years. Ruby enjoyed reading her Bible. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and when she was able, Ruby loved to be outside working in her flower gardens.

Ruby is survived by her daughters: Linda Rupard of Winston-Salem, NC, Karen Icenhour and husband Tom of Mountain City, TN and Donna West and husband Dr. Mike West of Knoxville, TN; sons: Buddy Slemp and wife Betty and Jack Slemp and wife Olive, all of Lexington, NC; brother, Eddie Perkins and wife Cledith of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Chris, Alisa, Billie, Frankie, Michael, Debbie and Addison: great grandchildren: Thomas, Carson, Matthew, Kelsey, Brandie, TC, Billie Jr, 'Bubba', Katelyn, Rhea, Brian, Megan and Courtney; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Gentry; several great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Mike Boyd to officiate.
Graveside Service and Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Tom Icenhour, Chris Icenhour, Mike West, Curtis Gentry, Jody Hawkins and Shane Hodge. Honorary Pallbearers are Ruby's Nephews.

Those who wish, may make memorial contributions may be made in Ruby's Memory to the Amedysis Hospice (Christen Foundation) 1500 W. Elk Avenue, Suite 200, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
