E.A. Tobey dies suddenly at home of his daughter, Mrs. Ernest Moss.
E.A. Tobey, pioneer resident of this city, died very suddenly of heart disease at 8:15 o'clock last evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ernest Moss, near Phlox. He was seated near the fire when stricken.
Mr. Tobey was born on June 1, 1856, on a farm in Dodge County, where he spent his boyhood. In 1877, he married Miss Elizabeth Briggs at Hortonville. The couple made their home at Dale and Eau Claire before coming to Antigo.
Mr. Tobey came to Antigo thirty-four years ago and settled in the Sixth Ward, where he made his home for years. He was an ambitious worker, faithful and conscientious and probably put up as man houses as any man in Antigo, being a carpenter by trade. He loved his home and family and always saw that his family was well provided for. His wife passed away eleven years ago, and since then Mr. Tobey had made his home with his children.
The departed is survived by ten children - Elwin Tobey of this city, Mrs. E Moss of Phlox, Mrs. R.E. McCrite of Vancouver, Wash., Ira Tobey of Sheboygan, Frank Tobey of Oshkosh, Mrs. Earl Dudley of Elton, Wayland Tobey of Platteville, Glen Tobey of Kaukauna, Mrs. Charles Barrick and Mrs. Arnold Bohse of this city, three brothers - William, Elmer and James Tobey, and one sister - Mrs. Elliott Pardee of Appleton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Monday morning at the home of Elwin Tobey in this city.
