Born Feb. 23, 1894 in Pulaski, he was the son of the late William B. Brookman and Mimmie White Brookman.
He was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Surviving are his wife, Opal Grantham Brookman of Roanoke; one daughter, Martha Bell Janney of Roanoke; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Lotz Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Doug Paysour officiating. Burial will follow at noon in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday at Lotz Roanoke Chapel. Lotz Funeral Home, Roanoke, is in charge of arrangements.
