Funeral Services to Be Held Friday for Mrs. Mattie Thornton
Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Thornton. 44, wife of the Rev. C. S. Thornton, Baptist minister of Mize, will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock from the Calvary church near Mize with the Rev. O'Ferrall officiating.
Mrs. Thornton died at a local hospital after an illness of several days.
Mrs. Thornton is survived by her husband, eight daughters, Mrs. Roma Duckworth, Bay Springs; Mrs. Ruth Buchanan, Louin; Mrs. Nettie Hughes, Mrs. Lois Hughes, Misses Rachel, Sarah, Rebecca and Laura Thornton, all of Mize; five sons, T. C, Burnlce, Walter D., Truett, Ted Thornton, all of Mize;
her mother, Mrs. H. F. Hughes, Jackson; three brothers, A. L. Hughes, Hinds County; C. M. Hughes, Clinton; W. W. Hughes, Jackson, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Crenshaw, Santa Rosa, Texas; Mrs. Beulah Canterbury, Memphis; Mrs. Ira Holbrook, Polkville.
Mrs. Thornton possessed a most pleasing personality and was a great aid to her husband in his chosen field of endeavor. Her death is the source of much sorrow to scores of friends.
