Actress. Born Nafisa Khan to an actress mother, she was raised in Chelsea, London, made her 1998 silver screen bow in the Hindi language "Dil Se..", and received operatic and dance training. After study at the Lee Stasberg Institute of New York, Jiah, who took her screen name from the Angelina Jolie film "Gia", returned to India and starred in Ram Gopal Varma's 2007 "Nishabd", a loose adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov's classic 1955 pornographic novel "Lolita", her portrayal of a young girl sexually involved with one of her father's business associates garnering her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award nomination. Jiah probably earned her greatest acclaim in the 2008 mega-hit thriller "Ghajini" and was also praised for her supporting appearance as Devika in 2010's "Housefull"; though she was involved in negotiations for other film projects, Jiah suffered from depression over final years and committed suicide by hanging.
