Frederick J. Hook (1937 - 2012)

KILL BUCK - Frederick J. Hook, 74, of Hardscrabble Road died early Tuesday (April 17, 2012) at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born June 20, 1937, in Manhattan, Freddie was a son of the late Fred and Julia Larkin Hook. He was married May 24, 1969, in New York City to the former Kathleen McCabe, who survives.

Mr. Hook was employed for more than 30 years with Otis Elevator Co. in New York, retiring to Kill Buck in 1995. He was an honorary member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local #1, in New York. Freddie was very proud of his affiliation with Local #1 and was a true union brother.

After residing on Staten Island for more than 25 years, he and his wife moved to Kill Buck following his retirement. Freddie loved his life in Kill Buck, especially those friends he made after his retirement. An avid walker, he was known to walk about 5 miles a day. He also loved the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.

Mr. Hook was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Salamanca.

Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, Jeanette (John) Capill of Monmouth County, N.J., Arlene (John) Bruen of Rockland County, Jacqueline (Daryl) Hooker of London and Karen Ann Hook of Staten Island; two sons, Stephen Hook of Staten Island and John (Nicole) Hook of Rockland County; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jean Quattrone of Salamanca, Joanne Walsh of Salamanca and Rita Fox of Kill Buck; a brother, Joseph Hook of Los Angeles; several nieces and nephews; and six sisters-in-law, all of whom he loved very much.

Freddie was predeceased by a sister, Blanche Hook Marino; four brothers, Robert Hook, Edward Hook, Francis Hook and Richard Hook; and a daughter-in-law, Katie Logan Hook.

Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca.
