KINGS MOUNTAIN The Rev. Dr. Edgar Mauney Cooper, 81, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
He was a native of Cleveland County and the son of the late Dr. Edgar Claudius and Vera Mauney Cooper. A retired Lutheran minister, he was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Kings Mountain, where he was a member of the church choir and taught Sunday school. He was a member of Kings Mountain Rotary Club and the former minister of New Hanover Lutheran Church in Gilbertsville, Pa. for 47 years and served as Pastor Emeritus.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Cooper Plonk and brother, Jacob Mauney Cooper.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie G. Cooper of Kings Mountain; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Cooper Scharf of Kings Mountain; a brother-in-law, Dr. George W. Plonk Sr.; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Dr. George W. Plonk Jr. and wife, Judy of Winston-Salem, Barbara Bridges and husband, Bill of Kings Mountain, Becky Loftin and husband, Bill of Snellville, Ga., Carole Gravagno and husband, Emilio of Ambler, Pa., Peggy Pollack and husband, Ken of Midlothian , Va., Judy Wilson and husband, Bob of Kings Mountain, Ann D. Law and husband, Billy of Cartersville, Ga. and Neal Cooper and wife, Martha of Hastings, N.Y.; 20 great nieces and nephews; five great-great nieces and nephews and special friends, Flossie Johnson and Jerry Bess both of Kings Mountain.

Burial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
