7-D: James Leland ("Lee") Anderson

Details concerning "Lee" are sketchy, since both he and his widow are deceased, and the children died as infants. According to one source, it was his father's plan that he enter the cattle business, and owned some land south of Marshall Grove near the John Anderson farm. However, he entered the military, and died at age 30. He married Hazel M. Jones, daughter of James and Mary Jones of Kouts. After Lee's death, Hazel married Fred A. Hofferth (b. 22 Apr 1882 in Kouts; d. 3 Nov 1936). Apparently, Lee and Hazel had no children who lived very long, but information from county records suggests the following picture:

James Leland ("Lee) Anderson: b. 11 Mar 1883 Tassinong, Porter Co., IN. d. 29 Mar 1913: bur. Adams Cem.

m. 1906 - Hazel M. Jones: b. 31 Oct 1886, Kouts, IN. d. 7 Jun 1974 Porter Co., IN.: bur. Graceland, Kouts
