Catherine Decker nee Metzger was born in Pickaway Co, Ohio, January 4, 1832 and died at the home of her son Rev. H.A.Decker in Blissfield, Michigan, September 6, 1909 aged 77 years, 8 months, and 2 days.

She came with her parents to Seneca Co, Ohio when but three years of age where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to John W Decker, June 7, 1851 and to this union were born eleven children, seven of whom with the husband preceded her in death.

She came with her husband in the fall of 1851 and settled in St Joseph Co. She has been a resident of this state for nearly sixty years.

She was converted and joined the Evangelical Church in her youth, the consolation of her faith served her well til the end came.

She leaves to mourn her departure two sons, two daughters, two brothers, three sisters, fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the home of Rev H.A.Decker, Wednesday at 2p.m., conducted by Rev. P. Scheurer of Manchester, Michigan. Rev. Decker, left on the 5:47 train with the remains for Fremont, Michigan where they will be placed to rest by the side of her husband.
