Lester Charles Lorfeld, well known resident of Manitowoc county and later for many years a meat market proprietor here, was found dead at his home, 717 N. Seventh street, at 3:15 p.m., Wednesday. Death was attributed to hanging, according to coroner Wesley Van Zanten. Mr. Lorfeld had not been in good health recently. Deceased was born in Manitowoc county, on September 8, 1872, and attended the rural schools. He opened his own meat market in Cleveland in 1890 and in 1894 sold out and opened another market on New York avenue, this city, opeating there for eight years when he sold the market and engaged in cattle buying. He retired from active work in 1935. He was married to Julia Gosse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Gosse of Town Mosel on September 10, 1893. He was a member of the Zion Reformed church and enjoyed a large circle of friends.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Arwin Sommer of this ciry; one son, Dr. G. W. Lorfeld of Davenport, Iowa; two grand-children, Lloyd Sommer and Charles Lorfeld, one brother, John Lorfeld of Cleveland; one sister, Mrs. William Kamman of Town Holland. Private funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., at the Robert H. Kroos Funeral Home. Rev. E. H. Wessler will officiate and burial will be made in Wildwood cemetery. Friends may view the body at the funeral home from Friday noon until the time of services.
