She was born in what was the Pendleton District, SC. She was buried at New Bethel Church, Oakway, Oconee County, SC. She married William Cain, Sr. (1775-1862). My line of descent is through their oldest child, William "Cooter" Cain, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Cain who were married ca 1835 in Walhalla, Pickens District, SC.Keowee Courier Issue of Thursday March 15, 1883:
Died, at her residence at Oakway, S. C., Mrs. MARY CAIN, aged about 80 years, after severe illness of long standing. Mrs. Cain lived a life of industry and quietness among her acquaintances. She leaves 14 grandchildren and about 20 great grandchildren to mourn for her. She died on Friday, the 9th inst., and was interred at New Bethel Church, after a funeral discourse by Rev. A. W. MCGUFFIN.
