She was born January 28, 1934 in Ottumwa, the daughter of Raymond and Mary Lois Johnson Chesser. On August 9, 1950 she married Arthur E. Howard in Ottumwa. He died November 16, 1989.
Mrs. Howard worked at IAAP in West Burlington and Metromail in Mt. Pleasant. She was also a day care provider for many years and loved babies and caring for them. She was of the Southern Baptist faith. She attended school in Ottumwa. She enjoyed John Wayne and Elvis Presley, crossword puzzles, and reading. She collected salt and pepper shakers and sea shells. She loved music and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, Shawn Hendricks, Arthur Howard, Brian Howard; three sisters, Avis Neiman, Clara Pringle, and Leslie Woodward; and one brother, Robert Richardson.
