Alfred Vaughn
Alfred Vaughn, 88, a resident of the Walnut vicinity for many years, died Monday afternoon at Clarinda hospital, where he had been a patient for the last three months. He is a brother of B.F. "Doc" Vaughn of Walnut.
Alfred Vaughn, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Vaughn, was born Nov. 18, 1857, at Luke, Ill., and grew to manhood there. When a young man, he came with his parents in a covered wagon to the Walnut vicinity, where the family located on a farm. He married Mrs. Alice Hoover at Walnut; she died several years ago.
Surviving are his brother, B.F. Vaughn of Walnut; a sister Mrs. S.E. Holaday of Salem, Ill., and his niece, Mrs. Charles Ballard of Atlantic, and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Walnut Methodist church, Rev. L.D. Thomas of the Atlantic Methodist church in charge. Interment was made in the Walnut cemetery. Walnut paper 9-5-1946
