Son of (Unknown) Scott and Margaret Laiverence, husband of Nellie F. Corwin, the daughter of Sylvester N. Corwin and Maria Hepzibah Barteau, whom he married on December 26, 1881 in Brookhaven, New York, and father of Margaret Maria and Irving Valentine Scott.

On 1870, George Scott, aged 10, born in New York, was living at Abbingdon Square between Bank and W. 13th Streets, New York City, New York, in the home of his mother, Margaret Scott, aged 40, born in Scotland.

In 1880, George W. Scott, aged 21, born in New York, a clerk in real estate, was living at 268 West 4th Street, New York City, New York, with his mother, Margaret Scott, aged 53, widowed, born in Scotland, and her sisters, Ann Conly, aged 50, a cook, and Margaret Scott, aged 45, a chambermaid, and boarder, Patrick F. Obituary - George W. Scott, a former resident of Brookhaven, died at his home in New York Saturday after a long illness. He was 72 years old. The remains were brought to Brookhaven yesterday with services in the cemetery there in charge of the Rev. Coulson Shepherd of the Baptist church.
