The unexpected death of Walter Sanders, which occurred at his home near Alabam Tuesday evening, was a great shock to his relatives and many friends who had not been informed even of his serious illness. And to extremely intensify this sad news is the announcement that his wife, formerly Miss Mary Kendall, died at 1 o'clock pm today. Mrs Sanders was informed of the death of her husband yesterday morning. She was apparently unalarmed at the announcement and calmly requested that his remains be held and buried with hers in the same casket, if possible, with their arms infolded. This cannot be arranged but the caskets will be placed side by side in one grave.
The double funeral service will be conducted by Rev J C Boatright tomorrow at 2 o'clock pm and interment will be made in the Huntsville cemetery.
About three weeks ago Mrs Sanders gave birth, the baby, a son, still having every promise of living, an she seemed to be recovering nicely until ten days later when puerperal fever developed. In a very short time her condition became critical. On Monday of last week Mr Sanders was stricken with acute indigestion which soon became complicated with a nervous breakdown caused, no doubt, by his great grief over the impending death of his wife, and his death was a surprise even to his bedside attendants.
Mr Sanders was about 35 years of age and was born and reared near Huntsville, his parents being Mr and Mrs T G Sanders who now reside in Florida. Mrs Sanders, age 24, was the oldest child of Mr and Mrs Lem Kendall, on whose farm she and her devoted husband had resided the past three years. Their happy life was saddened just a year ago by the death of their little daughter but they were becoming as much reconciled as possible to that decree of providence and were again facing the future with happy anticipations, little dreaming of such a sad end to it all. Both were vigorous young people and that their plighted lives grew sweeter each day in their love for each other was observed by all who were associated with them. All hearts are grieved and the tenderest sympathy of everyone goes out to the bereaved families.
