She was a native of Ged and was a longtime resident of the Vinton and Lake Charles areas. Josephine enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Mitchell and wife, Danita of Hackberry; step-children, Mark Foreman and wife, Mitzi of Dry Creek, Danny Foreman of Lake Charles, Velder Mancuso and husband, Al of Moss Bluff, Ann Clifton and husband, V.O. of Moss Bluff, and Cecil Bishop and wife, Lisa of Vinton; one brother, Eddie Paul Burge of Port Arthur, Texas; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and twenty great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by five children, James Mitchell, Jr, Art Mitchell, Jimmy Murle Mitchell, Lloyd Mitchell, and Collins Mitchell.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 30, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Jody Barilleaux will officiate. Burial will be in Lee Cemetery in Starks. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
