ALBERES Sr. Ivy John "YaYa" - - - A retired truck driver for Sorrento Lumber and resident of Sorrento, he died at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, in Gonzales. He was 53 and a native of White Castle. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Visiting at St. Anne Catholic Church, Sorrento, from 9 a.m. until prayer service at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by Deacon Jerry Braud. Interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. Survived by his wife, Trudy Everett Alberes; a daughter and son-in-law, Tressy and Jeremy Simmons; a son, Ivy Alberes Jr.; a sister and brother-in-law, Gayle and Lloyd Albarado; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Freddie Jr. and Betty Alberes, Eddie Sr. and Anna Mae Alberes, Ronnie and Rose Alberes, Mason "M.J." and Judy Alberes and Alfred Sr. and Wendy Alberes; and four grandchildren, Taylor and Chase Alberes and Blane and Hannah Simmons. Preceded in death by his parents, Freddie Sr. and Gertrude Blouin Alberes; two sisters, Marlene Brown and Gertrude Porrier; and two brothers, Merlin and Lynwood Alberes.
