Myrtle J. "Mert" Marsh, 67, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 3, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE with Father Paul Albenesius officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Mert was born on August 12, 1945 in rural Akron, Iowa, the daughter of William and Lillian (Jeffers) Crow. She graduated from Akron High School in 1963. She married Ronald Marsh on January 4, 1964 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City. The couple lived for a short time in Sioux City before building a home in South Sioux City where they continued to live all their married life. Mert was a stay at home mom before working as a teacher's aide for the Special Ed. Dept. in South Sioux City Schools, where she continued to work for thirty-one years before retiring in 2011.

She was a member of and very active in St. Michael's Catholic Church. She enjoyed quilting, dancing, having lunch and playing bridge with her friends, spending time with her family and watching Nebraska football games. She loved attending her grandchildren's ball games and events, very rarely missing any event. Mert was constantly doing things for others. She did something for and was a friend to everyone.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Marsh of South Sioux City, NE; two children, Valarie Marsh and Dan (Patti) Marsh all of South Sioux City, NE; son-in-law, Kyle Bahney of South Sioux City, NE; grandchildren, Courtney and Alex Bahney, Nolan and Connor Marsh; 1 brother, Jerry Crow of Sioux City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Mert was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillian Crow; one daughter, Annette Bahney; brothers and sisters, Delores Meske, Willis Crow, Betty Rzadecki, Frank Crow, Jack Crow and Jim Crow.
