Born near Williamsport, he was the son of James B. and Lucretia P. (Gower) Newcomer.

He was chief clerk for the master car builder of the Western Maryland Railway for the past 35 years. He was one of 4 boys all whom served in World War I.

He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks and the Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway.

He is survived by sisters, Mrs. W. Lee Elgin, Mrs. James Annan, Mrs. William Horst; brothers, Clyde Newcomer and Arthur G. Newcomer.
