"Nunda Nov 24-Mrs Ellen Van Middlesworth Emmons, who passed her 100th birthday last June, lives with her daughter Mrs Thomas Green, about a half from Nunda on the Oakland Road.
She is yet in fairly good health and her memory of early events is good.
Mrs Emmons was born in Hoosick Falls, on June 11, 1811.Her maiden name was Ellen Coons, and she came with her parents to the Town of Sparta in Livingston County where she married Vactor Van Middlesworth and resided at Union Corners for many years. After his death, she became the wife of George Emmons of Garwoods, so that all of her life has been spent within a few miles of Nunda. She can remember this as a wilderness with not a house where the village is now located.
Mrs Emmons has 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls. Those now living are Mrs Redmond, R and C Van Middlesworth, all of Geneseo, Mrs Shoup of Michigan, and Mrs Thomas Green of Nunda. Mrs Emmons early in life joined the Baptist church and was an attendant of that society as her health permitted. She set up to have her picture taken a few days ago, and talked of early events in her life".

She was twice married, to the first union ten children having been born- 5 boys and 5 girls. Those living are Mrs Redmond, R and C Van Middlesworth, Mrs E Shoup of Michigan, and Mrs Thomas Green, with whom she had resided for a number of years.
