Wm. Scholer Formerly of Waseca, Dies
William Scholer, a native of Woodville township, died Thursday morning, July 23, at Monte Vista, Colo., where he and his wife had located about two years ago. Mr. Scholer was stricken with a heart attack Sunday of last week, with double pneumonia developing later and causing his death. The body was returned to Waseca and funeral services were held Monday, with private services at 10:30 a. m. at the Peterson Funeral Home followed by 2 o'clock services at the Methodist church. The Rev. Hillis B. Slaymaker officiated. Casket bearers were Lee Abraham, Earl Olson, William Sotebeer of Waseca, Orville Christianson and Albert Miller, Owatonna and Herman Luthe, Claremont. Interment was in Woodville cemetery. Mr. Scholer's death occurred only three days before he reached the age of 58 years. He was born July 26, 1895, the son of the late Edward and Caroline Fell Scholer. He attended the District 7 school in Woodville and grew to manhood in that community. His marriage to Rose Sershen took place Nov. 24, 1920. They first located on a farm east of Waterville, later moving to their farm just north of the Waseca city limits. After selling that property eight years ago, they farmed at Claremont for some time, later returning to Waseca until two years ago when they located at Monte Vista. In Colorado, Mr. Scholer was employed as a Star route carrier out of Monte Vista. He was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Mae Irene Bodie of Monte Vista, three brothers, Ed Scholer of Waterville, John Scholer, Waseca and Wesley Scholer, Minneapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Jesse Draheim (Louise) of Waseca and Mrs. Russell Potterton (Frieda) of Chicago, and two grandchildren.
