Dr. Arch L. Ramsey, 89, Uniontown, died at Mercy Hospital Monday Jan. 15, 1979. He practiced dentistry at Uniontown 44 years, retiring in 1963. He was a graduate of the Western Dental College, Kansas City, Mo. He was born Jan. 27, 1889, at Uniontown, the son of Sherman and Mary Frances (Molly) Wells Ramsey. Dr. Ramsey had lived his entire life on the farm homesteaded by his grandfather, Robert Wells. The farm has been operated continuously by the same family for a period of 125 years. Dr. Ramsey married Nellie Kelly, Nov. 9, 1919, at Anderson, MO.
..He was a member of the Church of Christ at Neosho, Mo. He was a past master of Excelsior Lodge No. 115, AF&AM, of which he had been a member 68 years. He was a charter member and served as the first worthy patron of Mary E. Hepler, No. 434, Order of Eastern Star of Uniontown, of whioh he was a member 56 years. He served as a member of the Uniontown School Board for a period of 20 years.
..Dr. Ramsey was an outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed hunting and trapping.
..Surviving are the wife of the home; three sons, James "Lynne" Ramsey of Garland, Dr. Harold A. Ramsey of Cary, N.C., and William R. "Bill" Ramsey of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Mrs. Carrol Niles of Lyndon, Kan.; one brother, Dr. E. E. Ramsey of Topeka; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
..Services were held on the following Thursday in the Uniontown United Methodist Church with Dr. Carrie Miller and Rev. A.V. Howland officiating.
..Interment was in the Uniontown Cemetery under the direction of Earl's Memorial Home.
..The family suggested memorial contributions be made to the Fair Haven Children's Home of Stafford, Mo.
