Daniel Meade, 49, of 48 Luzerne Street, died yesterday afternoon at 2:33 in General Hospital from injuries received in a three-car accident late Wednesday night on the Ashley Bypass in Wilkes-Barre Township.
A vehicle operated by Mr. Meade was traveling south on road when it collided with car coming in the opposite direction. The other car, operated by Peter Olinits, 49, of 118 Kado Street, was struck by a third car operated by Joseph Figlerski, 11 West Enterprise Street, Glen Lyon.
Olinits and a passenger in his car, Albert Buzinski, 46, of 31 Kado Street, also were injured and required treatment at the hospital. Both were later discharged.
A son of the late Daniel and Mary Kane Meade, Mr. Meade was born in Perth Amboy, N. J. He resided in Wilkes-Barre many years aid a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Holy Name Society. Mr. Meade was employed as a fireman by Jersey Central Lines 33 years. He was a veteran of World War 2 and was a member of American Legion Post 132.
Surviving are aunts, Mrs. Sarah Kane, at home; Mrs. M. J. Kerwin, wife of Congressman Kerwin, Youngstown, O.; Uncles, Matthew Kane, Kingston; John Kane, Leona, N. J.
Funeral will be held from McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 South Washington Street, where friends may call Saturday night 7 to 10 and Sunday 3 to 5 and 7 to 10.
