Arnold H. Mehlberg, age 77, of 90 Rohrer St., Clintonville, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Heartland of Shawano.

Arnie was born Dec. 30, 1923, in the Township of Grant, Shawano County, the son of the late Fred and Anna (Schuettpelz) Mehlberg. He was raised in the Township of Grant and in the Township of Pella. Arnie later served in the United States Army during World War II from 1945 until 1947 in the European Theatre. On June 16, 1951, he was united in marriage to Deloris Dalum at St. John's Lutheran Church, Marion. The couple lived in Clintonville all of their married life. Arnie was employed at the FWD Corporation in Clintonville, then with Clintonville Electric Service where he later became owner and was employed for 34 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville, where he served as elder, usher and was on the stewardship committee and was a charter member of the Memorial Trust Committee. Arnie was an avid sportsman and had deer hunted for 49 straight years, was a renowned trapshooter and was a member of the Clintonville Trap Club, the Brown County Sportsman Club and a charter member of the Clintonville Ducks Unlimited Chapter. He was a member of the American Legion Post #63 and the VFW Post #664, both of Clintonville.

Survivors include: his wife, Deloris; three sons, CMSGT Larry (Mary) Mehlberg, McCord Air Force Base, Puyallup, Wash., Dennis (Beth) Mehlberg, Clintonville, Jerry (Rose) Mehlberg, Burke, Va.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Mehlberg, Seattle, Wash., Brian Mehlberg, Puyallup, Wash., Mike (Krissy) Mehlberg, Clintonville, Molly (Keith) Lohrentz, Green Bay, Jessica (Tim) Robb, Seattle, Wash., Jacqueline Mehlberg, Burke, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Morgan Mehlberg and Alex Lohrentz; one sister, Helen Hill, Milwaukee; one brother, Elroy (Elaine) Mehlberg, Marion; one sister-in-law, Ruth Mehlberg, Clintonville; one brother-in-law, Elmer Dalum, Marion; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 25, at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville, with the Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating with interment in the Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, at Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home, Clintonville, and after 10 a.m. on Monday at the church until the time of the services. Military graveside rites will be provided by the VFW Post #664 and the American Legion Post #63 of Clintonville.
